Project Description
As one of a series of parks along the Long Branch Stream Valley corridor, Long Branch-Garland Neighborhood Park provides an important outdoor resource for residents of the Long Branch area. The park serves a diverse community of park users and provides opportunities for play, active recreation, social gathering, and contemplative experiences in a setting along the stream valley. It is adjacent to the Domer Avenue bridge, a well-used stream crossing, and connects to the Long Branch Trail.
This park refresher project will focus on updating the aging playground, improving amenities in response to community interest, and supporting better connections across Long Branch Stream Valley and Trail. These updates to the playground and park infrastructure will meet current codes and standards and increase local opportunities for recreation while preserving unique characteristics of the park.
Background
The 3.8-acre park is located on the north side of Garland Avenue between Piney Branch Road and Domer Avenue and adjacent to the Long Branch Stream Valley. The existing park includes a playground, basketball court, open space, and picnic area.
Status/Project Update
Park staff is currently refining design concepts and preparing to begin the detail design and permitting process.
