Concept Plan Map of Long Branch Local Park Concept Plan including Basketball Court, Soccer Court, Skate Park and Parkour, Soccer Field, Long Branch Community Center Expanded Community Garden and Playground.

Project Description

This project will renovate Long Branch Local Park to provide improved and new amenities for the community including a soccer field, loop walk, playground, picnic areas, expanded community garden, upgraded courts for basketball and soccer, and a new skate park. The project also includes an updated entry to the park at the corner of Langley Drive and Glenville Road that will take advantage of a recent park acquisition to open the park to the neighborhood with a more visible and attractive entrance.

Background

Long Branch Local Park covers 14 acres behind the Long Branch Community Center. Existing Park amenities include a playground, half basketball court, tennis courts, a walking loop, a community garden, and a field with a backstop. Long Branch Local Park is part of the Montgomery Parks Long Branch Parks Initiative. The goal of the Initiative is to address the park, recreation, and public space need of the Long Branch area strategically and holistically. By planning and designing Long Branch parks together, the Parks Department has opportunities to meet the varied park needs of the community using all the parks in the area.
