Fairland Recreational Park

Straddling Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties, Fairland Recreational Park is part of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission. Of the 322 acres on Montgomery County side, only 39 acres are developed with athletic fields and courts. The remaining parkland is preserved in its natural state. On the Prince George’s County side, the park is home to the Fairland Sports and Aquatic Complex.

Help us make your visit as enjoyable as possible by adhering to the following recommendations:

  • County and park rules require that dogs must be kept on a leash at all times.
  • Alcohol beverages are not permitted in the park.
  • Visitors to the park must follow M-NCPPC Rules and Regulations, as well as any rule specific to a park facility or activity.

Courts

Tennis courts, pickleball striping on one tennis court, a multi-purpose court, and basketball courts are available for use by the general public on a first-come, first served basis.

Athletic Fields

The park has two softball fields, two soccer fields, and one practice field. One lighted softball field and one lighted soccer field are available for use by permit only; contact Park Permits for application information and guidelines for use. One soccer field is synthetic turf with crumb rubber infill. The remaining softball field and soccer fields are available for general use without a permit, first-come, first-served.

Playgrounds

Playground equipment is available for the enjoyment of families visiting the park.

Picnic Shelters

Pack a picnic and bring your family, friends, co-workers, or group to Fairland Recreational Park! Shelters are available to reserve from April 1 – October 31.

Facilities available include 4 individual Picnic Shelters. Picnic Shelter Map (pdf).

Each shelter can accommodate up to 25 people and includes picnic tables and a grill.

Shelters can be reserved through our Park Permits Office or online through ActiveMONTGOMERY.

Trails

There are 1.4 miles of hard surface trails in the park and more than 3 miles of natural surface trails available for hiking, biking and horseback riding. Natural surface trails allow visitors to experience the undeveloped areas of the park. More detailed information is available at Fairland Recreational Park Trail Map.
