At the meeting, Parks staff will share the conceptual design plan for the renovation and ask for feedback on some of the park’s features.

Maplewood Alta-Vista Park is on Alta-Vista Road in the Pooks Hill area of the county. The park currently offers a wide range of amenities, including a playground, a soccer/softball field, basketball and tennis courts and expansive open space with tree cover.

The upcoming renovation will update the park infrastructure and enhance ADA accessibility. The parking lot and basketball courts will be improved and walking connections to the neighboring community will be added. Seating and picnic areas will be upgraded, and stormwater management facilities will improve drainage issues in the park.

The one-half million-dollar project is being paid for by capital funding provided by the Maryland General Assembly. The bill to secure that funding was sponsored by Senator Ariana Kelly and Delegates Marc Korman, Sara Love, and Sarah Wolek.
