The department will host a spring picnic on Sunday, May 15, 2022, at Long Branch-Arliss Neighborhood Park for community members to share their suggestions.
WHEATON, Md. – Montgomery Parks, part of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, has launched the Long Branch Parks Initiative a comprehensive look at the parks, trails, amenities, and recreational programs in the area. The initiative is aimed at identifying what needs to be improved or added so the parks can better serve the people living in the Long Branch Area.
“We are taking a holistic approach in the Long Branch community to enhance the many parks in this area,” said Mike Riley, director of Montgomery Parks. “By providing multiple ways for the community to provide input, we are hoping to engage a broad cross-section of residents so we can better understand how they use our parks and what kinds of improvements are most needed.”
Montgomery Parks is seeking input from Long Branch community members via a survey about how to improve these parks. The survey is available online, and community input will be gathered through September 30, 2022. Final recommendations will be shared with the Montgomery County Planning Board and the public in January 2023.
The community is invited to the free Spring Kick-Off Picnic on Sunday, May 15, from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. at Long Branch-Arliss Neighborhood Park and will include live music, food, and activities.
