WHEATON, Md. – Get down and dirty with Montgomery Parks this summer at Mudfest 2024. The one-day event on Saturday, June 15, 2024, offers kids and adults the chance to jump, slip, and slide in giant man-made mud pits at Woodstock Equestrian Special Park in Beallsville.
What:
Mudfest
When:
Saturday, June 15, 2024
11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
Where:
Woodstock Equestrian Special Park
20027 Route 28/ Darnestown Road
Beallsville, Maryland / (Park entrance is north of Beallsville Road/Route 109)
Admission is $20 per car. Tickets are available in advance on ActiveMontgomery.com or for cash only onsite the day of the event.
Mudfest is hosted by the Black Hill Discovery Center. Parks’ staff prepare the mud in advance by screening for rocks and making sure it is the perfect texture for sculpting and sliding. A maintenance team uses excavators and other earth moving equipment to arrange the mud into piles, slides, puddles and more.
“In a world where we’re always telling kids to stay clean, Mudfest is a great way to slide into the hot summer months,” said Katrina Fauss, senior naturalist at Montgomery Parks. “We are encouraging families to pack up their plastic buckets, shovels and wheelbarrows and prepare to craft the perfect mud castles.”
The Mudfest fun will be fueled by food available for purchase from Catalyst Hotdogs and Clayboy’s Shave Ice. A DJ will provide the soundtrack and souvenir T-shirts will be on sale.
