Montgomery Parks Internship Program

The Internship Program is designed to provide job training to qualified college, university or trade school students who anticipate careers in a parks and recreation environment. Interns will be assigned to work with Montgomery Parks, part of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) in Montgomery County, Maryland. Most internships will be available through the spring and summer months. Interns will work 20–25 hours per week and will be compensated.

Montgomery Parks has a variety of opportunities that will provide students with a realistic work experience. Montgomery Parks will seek students pursuing degrees or disciplines including:

  • Landscape and Architectural Design
  • Geography/Geographic Information Systems
  • Historic Preservation
  • Horticultural Sciences
  • Marketing, Public Affairs and Community Partnerships
  • Skilled Trades
  • Human Resources
  • Project Management
  • Information Technology

Application Instructions

Students must submit:

  • M-NCPPC employment application through our job board – Montgomery Parks Internships
  • College transcript and unofficial transcript is acceptable
  • Personal statement, at least one page long, indicating goals and aspirations that may be enhanced by participation in the program
  • References from past supervisors and/or professors
  • Provide proof of eligibility to work in the United Sates

Note: To receive college credit, students will need to meet their respective school’s guidelines on participation hours.

Deadline

  • Applications for summer internships will be accepted on a rolling basis until all positions are filled.
