Montgomery Parks Internship Program

The Internship Program is designed to provide job training to qualified college, university or trade school students who anticipate careers in a parks and recreation environment. Interns will be assigned to work with Montgomery Parks, part of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) in Montgomery County, Maryland. Most internships will be available through the spring and summer months. Interns will work 20–25 hours per week and will be compensated.
Montgomery Parks has a variety of opportunities that will provide students with a realistic work experience. Montgomery Parks will seek students pursuing degrees or disciplines including:
- Landscape and Architectural Design
- Geography/Geographic Information Systems
- Historic Preservation
- Horticultural Sciences
- Marketing, Public Affairs and Community Partnerships
- Skilled Trades
- Human Resources
- Project Management
- Information Technology
Application Instructions
Students must submit:
- M-NCPPC employment application through our job board – Montgomery Parks Internships
- College transcript and unofficial transcript is acceptable
- Personal statement, at least one page long, indicating goals and aspirations that may be enhanced by participation in the program
- References from past supervisors and/or professors
- Provide proof of eligibility to work in the United Sates
Note: To receive college credit, students will need to meet their respective school’s guidelines on participation hours.
