Volunteers Black Hill Visitor Center

Volunteer with Us

The volunteer force at Black Hill Discovery Center is a diverse group of individuals and families who support our center’s interpretive programs in a number of ways. Volunteer opportunities can range from internships to one-day large scale group activities such as lake cleanups. Training and supplies are provided to volunteers to support them in their efforts.
At Black Hill Discovery Center, the following volunteer jobs are most commonly offered:

  • Bluebird nest box monitors
  • Native plant gardeners
  • Help with special events.
  • Naturalist aid positions
  • Student Service-Learning opportunities ~ Available this spring on 3/28, 4/10, 4/22, space is limited, find out more through our volunteer office.
  • Teacher-Naturalist – The Teacher-Naturalist program at Black Hill Nature Programs (BHNP) is a 4 to 6week intensive professional development opportunity for local teachers. Teachers will be given opportunities to learn best environmental education practices from park naturalists and staff first-hand. Teachers will be required to develop a project that fits the educational needs and goals of BHNP and to bring their students on a field experience during the school year.
