Dewey Local Park was renovated in 2020. The park includes a multi-age-themed playground with a perimeter “Trike Track,” a picnic shelter, a 22,000-square-foot lighted dog park, a 2,400-square-foot outdoor fitness station, a street hockey/futsal facility developed in partnership with the Washington Capitals, and a soccer field.
The work done in 2020 also includes renovating approximately 1,400 linear feet of the Rock Creek Trail, public art murals, additional parking, stormwater management, and landscape planting grown at the Montgomery Parks’ Pope Farm Nursery. M-NCPPC acquired the 14.5-acre park in 1951.

In-line Hockey Rink / Futsal Court
The fully accessible combination soccer and in-line hockey court is 150 feet long by 65 feet wide. The rink can be used on a first-come, first-served basis if it is not reserved for a game. Use of the rink is permitted year-round from 9:00 am until Sunset. There is a 2-hour minimum/maximum per group from January 1 to April 1.
Dog Park
Dewey Local Park features separate areas for small dogs (20 lbs. or less) and large dogs (21 lbs. or more). The dog park has covered seating, waste bags, water bowls, and hilled structures for dogs to play on. The facility is open for use from 7 am to 8 pm and closed for maintenance every Tuesday between 7 am and 11 am.
Please remember that dogs must be on a leash before entering and exiting the park. They must also be current on all vaccinations as state or local law requires. There is no fee to use the dog park. Dog park visitors should read and follow Montgomery Parks’ Dog Park Rules and Regulations.
Art in the Park
Artist Juan Pineda DC-based visual artist, whose distinct style is characterized as urban-contemporary/street art. His connection to traditions resulted in unique mural work in Maryland and Washington, D.C. area since the mid 90’s. Visit the Flower Avenue Urban Park for more of Juan Pineda’s works.
