The 17.4-acre Takoma-Piney Branch Local Park sits adjacent to Piney Branch Elementary School. The newly renovated space contains a new picnic pavilion, basketball courts, two playgrounds, and a skate park.
The park also features a soccer field, softball field, sand volleyball court, improved entrances with public artwork, and an improved parking lot with accessible parking. In addition, park users can enjoy a looped path around the park, natural surface trails and pedestrian connections, along with a ramp to access the picnic pavilion. M-NCPPC acquired the park in 1981.
Takoma-Piney Branch Local Park benefitted from a generous donation to the Montgomery Parks Foundation made by The Steve Francis Foundation. The picnic pavilion was dedicated to the memory of Steve’s late mother, Brenda Wilson Bryant.
The basketball court pays tribute to Tony Langley, long-time president of the Takoma Park Boys and Girls Club.
